Your child's information stays with you

Effective October 7, 2026

KiddoReady is built so that we never receive what you type about your child. This page explains exactly what happens to information when you use the site.

What you type stays on your device

  • The card builder runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to us or anyone else.
  • Your details are saved in your browser's local storage on this device, so they're still there next time. They are not saved to any account or server.
  • The PDF is created on your device and saved straight to it.
  • To erase everything, use Start over in the builder, or clear this site's data in your browser settings.

How the QR code works

  • The QR code is optional. The full-page sheet only has one if you tick Add a QR code before downloading.
  • The QR code contains your child's details inside the code itself, in the part of the link after the #. Browsers never send that part of a link to a server, so scanning it does not send the details to us.
  • Your home address is never put in a QR code or link. It appears only on the printed cards.
  • Anyone who scans or photographs the QR code can read the details, just like anyone who reads the printed sheet. Share printed copies only with people you trust.
  • The phone or app used to scan it may keep the link in its history.
  • Because nothing is stored online, the QR code shows what was true when you printed it. Print a new copy when something changes.
  • The code also holds the date it was made, so whoever scans it can see how old the information is. Cards over 6 months old show a reminder to check with you.

Sharing the link

Once you add a QR code, the builder can also show it on your screen, preview it, copy its link, or open your phone's share menu. Nothing is shared unless you do one of those things. When you do:

  • The link contains everything on the card except your home address, the same as the QR code. Anyone who has it can see the details, and they can forward it. A sent link can't be taken back.
  • Sending it in a message leaves a copy with that messaging service. iMessage and WhatsApp are end-to-end encrypted; regular SMS and email are not.
  • The most private option is letting a caregiver scan the QR code from your screen, since nothing passes through another service.
  • Links don't update. Share a new one when something changes.

What we count

To learn whether the tool is useful, the site counts a few anonymous steps: page views, starting the builder, finishing it, downloading the PDF (and whether it includes a QR code), using a sharing option, and clicking "Reserve a kit." We count that a step happened, never what the card or link contains. For each one, our hosting logs keep only:

  • the time,
  • the page or step (for example, /e/pdf_download),
  • the response status,
  • the referring page, which other sites usually limit to their domain (for example, reddit.com), and
  • any campaign tag in the link (for example, ?utm_source=newsletter).

We do not log IP addresses or browser details, and we don't use cookies, fingerprinting, ads, or third-party analytics. We can't tell who you are or connect one visit to another. These counts are kept for up to 13 months.

To avoid counting the same step twice, the site keeps a small "already counted" flag in your browser for the current tab. It contains no information about you and disappears when you close the tab.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services (Amazon CloudFront and Amazon S3). Like any web host, AWS must handle your IP address to deliver pages to you, but we don't record it. The site loads no scripts, fonts, or images from anyone else.

Safety Kit reservations

Clicking "Reserve a kit" only counts the click. We don't ask for, or receive, any personal information.

Future printed orders

Printed kits aren't available yet. When they are, ordering one will require sending the card details and a shipping address to us and our printing partner. We'll update this policy before then, use that information only to make and ship your order, and delete it after delivery.

What we never do

  • Sell or share information.
  • Show ads.
  • Require an account or an email address.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
